Tell Congress: Oppose Tlaib's Anti-Israel Amendments

Anti-Israel Rep. Rashida Tlaib has introduced two anti-Israel amendments to the DETERRENT Act – legislation aimed at increasing transparency of foreign funding to U.S. colleges and universities – that would effectively support a boycott of Israel. The House is expected to vote on the amendments on Thursday.

Tlaib’s amendments would put Israel into the same category as U.S. adversaries like Russia, China, Iran and North Korea.

If adopted, her amendments would block American colleges and universities from entering into contracts with Israel and require them to disclose any investments in Israel, including Israeli stocks or bonds, a victory for the discriminatory boycott, divestment and sanction (BDS) campaign against the Jewish state.

As your constituent, I urge you to oppose anti-Israel Rep. Rashida Tlaib’s amendments that would effectively support a boycott of Israel.

Congress is currently considering the DETERRENT Act (H.R. 1048), to strengthen reporting requirements for foreign gifts and contracts to American colleges and universities.

The bill also prohibits colleges and universities from entering contracts with four countries — Russia, China, Iran and North Korea.

Tlaib's amendments would put Israel into the same category as these U.S. adversaries, using the International Criminal Court's (ICC) and International Court of Justice's (ICJ) baseless and illegitimate cases against Israel as a pretext to do so.

If adopted, her amendments would require colleges and universities to disclose any investments in Israel, including Israeli stocks or bonds, an approach aligned with the discriminatory boycott, divestment and sanction (BDS) campaign against the Jewish state.
