I am writing to urge you and other Members of Congress to stand up for the Medicare Advantage program, a vital part of Medicare that provides affordable health care for nearly 34 million American seniors and people with disabilities.

For those of us living on fixed incomes, every dollar counts — and Medicare Advantage keeps our health care affordable. Medicare Advantage beneficiaries spend $2,541 less per year on out-of-pocket costs and premiums compared to those in Fee-For-Service Medicare, even with added benefits like vision, hearing, and dental coverage.

However, recent policy changes could make Medicare Advantage more expensive for seniors, with fewer benefits and fewer plan choices. We can’t afford to get less health care for our money, especially as costs continue to rise across the board.

These changes pose the biggest risk to the seniors who can least afford it, including low-income seniors, people of color, and those who live in rural areas with less access to health care. They disproportionately choose Medicare Advantage — so when the program takes a hit, these seniors pay the price.

Nearly 34 million beneficiaries like me across the country are counting on you to defend our affordable health care through Medicare Advantage. Please prioritize stability for seniors and oppose any further policies that could make our health care more expensive.
