Lower Boat Taxes
South Carolina has the highest
boat property taxes in America!
Dear [Lawmaker],
As your constituent, after years of renting my boat back from the government, I am asking for your support of H.3858. Many of us have the same exact boats as folks in our neighboring states, yet we pay 5x more on our boats in S.C. It is bad enough that South Carolina still imposes a property tax on boats. Unfortunately, our state also charges the highest boat property taxes in the nation, far exceeding neighboring states and, in some cases, resulting in double taxation on outboard engines. H.3858 passed the House 89–7 and would provide fair, responsible relief for boaters, anglers, and small businesses across the state. I respectfully urge you to support this legislation and help it move through the Senate. Thank you for your time and service.
