Tell Your Assembly Member to Vote NO on Gun Control Bills!
Dear [Lawmaker],
As a resident of New York and a strong supporter of the Second Amendment, I strongly urge you to vote NO on any new gun control bills. S.4818 establishes a 10-day waiting period for the purchase of any firearm. There is no evidence that waiting periods reduce violent crime. If signed into law, S.4818 would deny the right of self-defense to abuse victims or any individual facing an imminent threat. S.8479 requires payment card networks to use certain merchant category codes for firearms dealers. This intrusive bill is dangerous and a massive invasion of privacy. This type of data collection is used to create registries and blackball gun owners. S.2086 establishes a voluntary waiver of the right to purchase firearms, rifles, and shotguns. This would deprive myself and other New Yorkers of utilizing our constitutional Second Amendment rights. S.138A requires the Department of Criminal Justice Services to certify instructors. For decades, the NRA has certified hundreds of thousands of trainers and has been the gold standard for firearms safety programs. This ill-conceived bill will impact almost everyone who carries concealed in New York, as it will almost certainly throw the entire system into chaos if not completely shut it down. Thank you for all that you do for our state.
Sincerely,
______
