Maine: Lawmakers, NRA, and State Gun Rights Group Demand Red Flag Hearing
Dear [Lawmaker],
As a fellow Mainer and your constituent, I urge you to call on the Senate President and Speaker of the House to hold a public hearing on the Red Flag ballot question. Under Maine law, all ballot initiatives are required to undergo a public hearing. However, Senator Anne Carney, the Chair of the Judiciary Committee, has blocked such requests from her fellow lawmakers in an attempt to silence citizens who are critical of this extreme gun control proposal. As one of these citizens, I refused to be silenced. Senator Carney may not want to listen to be, but as my legislator and elected representative in your chamber, she has to listen to you. Again, I urge you to call upon leadership to force a hearing on the "Red Flag" issue. Thank you for all that you do for our great state.
