Tell Congress: Support the Enhanced Iran Sanctions Act

In March, the House of Representatives passed the bipartisan Enhanced Iran Sanctions Act, a key piece of legislation that targets foreign entities aiding Iran’s illicit export of petroleum, the primary source of revenue for the Iranian regime, and will help ensure the regime does not have the resources to rebuild.

The bill is now pending in the Senate.

Dear [Lawmaker],

As an AIPAC member and pro-Israel American, I urge you to support the bipartisan Enhanced Iran Sanctions Act (S. 556), which passed in the House earlier this year.

This legislation tightens existing sanctions on Iran while providing new tools to increase enforcement. The legislation targets foreign entities aiding Iran’s illicit export of petroleum, the primary source of revenue for the Iranian regime.

Iran exports millions of barrels of oil, primarily to China, generating resources to fund its nuclear program, ballistic missile program, and support for terrorist proxies across the region.

Even as the United States and Israel take military action in Iran, the U.S. must toughen its economic tools targeting the Iranian regime. If the regime survives, the legislation will help ensure it does not have the revenue to rebuild. And if a new government emerges that ends Iran’s illicit activities, the legislation ensures appropriate flexibility.
