I am a constituent writing to urge you to cosponsor the Jewish American Security Act (S. 4576), introduced by Senators Jacky Rosen (D-NV) and James Lankford (R-OK), and by Representatives Dan Goldman (D-NY) and Mike Lawler (R-NY) (HR 9211) in the House of Representatives. This landmark legislation represents one of the most comprehensive legislative efforts to help ensure that the Jewish community can safely worship, learn, gather, and live openly without fear.

Jewish communities across the United States are operating under an unprecedented security burden as threats, violence, and fear increasingly shape daily life for Jewish families. According to the FBI, although Jews make up just 2% of the U.S. population, they accounted for nearly 69% of all reported religiously motivated hate crimes in 2024.

Parents should not have to worry about dropping their children off at a preschool housed inside a synagogue or community center, yet many now do. According to the Jewish Federations of North America, 41% of Federations reported security incidents over the past 10 months while children were present at Jewish community sites.

The Jewish American Security Act takes meaningful steps to address this escalating threat environment.

The Act authorizes $1 billion in nonprofit security grant funding, provides greater flexibility to support security personnel, streamline the grantmaking process, and expands resources for state and local law enforcement protecting houses of worship and religious institutions.

The bill also improves protections for Jewish students through stronger Title VI enforcement and a dedicated Antisemitism Coordinator at the Department of Education, and tackles the surge of antisemitism online by requiring major social media platforms to increase transparency around their efforts to combat antisemitic content.

The federal government has a fundamental responsibility to ensure that Americans can safely worship, gather, and live openly without fear. I respectfully urge you to cosponsor the Jewish American Security Act as an important first step toward meeting that responsibility and confronting the growing threat of antisemitic violence facing Jewish communities across the country.
