New Jersey: Oppose the 18-Bill Gun Control Package
Dear [Lawmaker],
As a law-abiding citizen and supporter of our constitutional rights, I urge you to oppose the dangerous and overreaching 18-bill gun control package being considered by the Senate Law & Public Safety Committee. This sweeping package represents one of the most aggressive assaults on the Second Amendment that New Jersey has ever seen. It includes legislation that would: Criminalize simple possession of legally owned, antique, or home-built firearms; Penalize individuals for merely possessing digital files or technical information related to firearms; Strip due process from accused individuals by allowing indefinite pretrial detention; Establish new tools to harass concealed carry permit holders acting in self-defense; Enable state-sanctioned financial surveillance of gun owners through Merchant Category Codes; Redefine reckless discharge laws to make lawful self-defense situations legally risky for the victim. These proposals do not target criminals. They target me, a law-abiding gun owner. They will not stop violent crime, but they will chill constitutional rights, intimidate legal gun ownership, and expand government power in dangerous and unnecessary ways. New Jersey already has some of the strictest gun laws in the country. If the Legislature is serious about improving safety, it should focus on enforcing existing laws and addressing violent crime—not attacking responsible citizens. I respectfully ask you to vote NO on all of these anti-gun bills and protect the rights of your constituents.
Sincerely,
______
