Washington: Several Gun Control Bills Primed for House Floor
Dear [Lawmaker],
As a fellow Washingtonian and your constituent, I strongly urge you to OPPOSE House Bill 1132, 1152, and 1163 if and when they arrive on the House floor. HB 1132 unconstitutionally restricts firearm purchases to 1 gun every 30 days and places arbitrary restrictions on the purchase of ammunition. HB 1152 requires mandatory locked storage of firearms separately from ammunition in vehicles and residences. This bill will render a firearm useless in a self-defense scenario while Washington is facing an all-time high crime problem. HB 1163 requires law-abiding Washingtonians to seek government permission to exercise a constitutionally guaranteed individual right to keep and bear arms. The bill also unlawfully authorizes the Washington State Police to establish a government registry of firearm owners, their firearms, and their personal information. There are not enough gun ranges in this state to allow for live-fire training at this magnitude. These bills do nothing to address crime in our state, and only place undue burdens on law-abiding gun owners and retailers. Again, I urge you to OPPOSE HB 1132, HB 1152, and HB 1163. Thank you for all that you do for our state.
Sincerely,
______
