Tell Congress: Sanction ICC Officials for Outrageous Arrest Warrants Against Israelis

The International Criminal Court (ICC) just issued arrest warrants for Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and former Defense Minister Yoav Gallant on baseless charges of “war crimes” and “crimes against humanity.”

The ICC has reached a new low in its morally bankrupt and legally baseless attacks against the Jewish state, and Congress must now act to sanction ICC officials.

The Illegitimate Court Counteraction Act (H.R.8282/S.224) imposes sanctions on those that aid efforts by the ICC to prosecute Americans or Israelis. The Senate must quickly pass the vital legislation, which passed the House in June.

I urge you to speak out against the International Criminal Court’s outrageous, morally bankrupt and legally baseless decision to issue arrest warrants for Israel’s leaders, and sanction ICC officials responsible for this decision.

Your administration and bipartisan leaders in Congress have already made clear that the International Criminal Court’s politically motivated campaign against Israel is dangerous and damaging to U.S. interests. Today’s decision — which has been condemned by Israelis from across the political spectrum — is a shameful stain on the Court and is a threat not only to Israel but to all democracies.

Israel is our democratic ally fighting on the front lines against our shared enemies. While Israel fights a just war against genocidal terrorists just as any other country would do, its enemies cynically use civilians as human shields to increase international pressure on Israel. Today's outrageous action — the first against a democratic country — rewards the perpetrators, punishes the victim, and sets a dangerous precedent that the Court may again arbitrarily expand its jurisdiction to prosecute Western nations with robust judicial systems like Israel.

As a pro-Israel American and AIPAC member, I urge you to publicly condemn these outrageous, politically motivated decisions by the ICC and hold those responsible for attacking our allies accountable.
