Michigan: Legislation Could Regulate Some Gun Dealers Out of Business
Dear [Lawmaker],
As a fellow Michigander, I urge you OPPOSE Senate bills 853 and 854. These pieces of legislation will have a harmful effect on our state's gun owners, as well as lawful firearms retailers. Adding additional costs and regulations to lawful firearms dealers will harm business in Michigan, and is likely to force small firearms sellers out of business. As firearms sales are already so regulated, further reducing the number of legal sellers is not only an attack on business but an attack on our Second Amendment rights as well. This will, of course, not impact the illegal sale of firearms which is never impacted by more laws. Adding more bureaucracy and higher costs to lawful firearms transactions will not make Michigan any safer, but it can certainly make Michigan less attractive for recreation and business. Again, I urge you to please oppose both SB 853 and SB 854. Thank you for your consideration.
Sincerely,
______
