Urge your State Senator to pass House Bill 2 as passed by the House. Find your State Senator at this website by typing in your address, then call their Capitol office. When you call:

Introduce yourself as a voter in their Senate district.
Ask for their support of House Bill 2 “as passed by the House.”
Share your story of how public schools have impacted your life.
Highlight key facts:

- HB 2 supports all districts—rural, suburban, and urban.
- Since 2019, inflation has drastically reduced schools’ buying power.
- HB 2 provides funding for Senate priorities: teacher raises and special education increases, and addresses inflationary costs on items such as utilities, fuel, and insurance, provides the other school staff who make school happen, and supports fine arts, PreK, and more!

Thank you for your commitment to raising teacher pay and increasing funding for special education and safety and security. These investments are key to improving student educational experiences in Texas. However, since 2019, schools, like families and businesses, have felt the crushing weight of rampant inflation and the buying power of the basic allotment has decreased by $1,340.

That is why I am writing to ask for your support for House Bill 2 as it passed the House. This bill advances all of your priorities and also provides schools desperately needed funds to address inflationary cost increases in utilities, fuel, insurance, etc. Even more importantly, HB 2 will allow schools to provide much needed raises to the countless school staff who make school happen every day and ensure our kids have a positive learning experience, including bus drivers, special education aides, maintenance workers, custodians, cafeteria workers, and more.
