Massachusetts: Commonwealth Proposes Unprecedented Sweeping Gun Control

This week, Massachusetts politicians put forth HD 4420, “an act modernizing firearm laws.” This massive piece of legislation re-writes gun laws in the Commonwealth and imposes unprecedented gun-control. Every NRA member and gun rights supporter in Massachusetts is urged to contact lawmakers now and tell them to oppose HD 4420.

Dear [Lawmaker],

In the coming weeks you will be hearing HD 4420, “an act modernizing firearm laws.” This bill re-writes Massachusetts gun-laws to implement the harshest gun-control in the country and severely infringes upon the rights of Massachusetts citizens. Because of this, I strongly urge you to oppose this bill.

HD 4420 is a collection of all the worst gun policies in America, and in the post-Bruen era, a bill that will likely not hold up in court. This bill looks to ban commonly owned firearms, institute age bans, and place an extreme financial burden on gun-owners to price them out of being able to exercise their Second Amendment rights.

HD 4420, as written:

Institutes a new, broad, complete “Assault Weapons Ban,” including firearms already owned by law-abiding citizens.
Effectively bans carrying a loaded or unloaded firearm anywhere in the Commonwealth unless expressly allowed by a private landowner.
Bans anyone under 21 from acquiring or carrying any semi-automatic rifle or shotgun. It even bans anyone under 15 from participating in firearm training.

These far-reaching mandates make it impossible for law-abiding citizens like me to protect myself or my family. Sadly, these laws will only disarm law-abiding citizens, while giving dangerous criminals the upper hand.
