Tell Lawmakers: Say 'No' to Skill Games
Dear [Lawmaker],
I am writing to you today to voice opposition to neighborhood slot machines and my displeasure that the company behind these machines has, according to a news report from reporter Graham Moomaw, tried to work around the current ban on “skill” games in Virginia to bring these slot machines back to every corner of the Commonwealth. It is clear the operators of these machines do not respect the rule of law in Virginia and cannot be an honest broker when working to establish a legal framework with the General Assembly. Recent research from Mangum Economics shows these “skill” games prey on vulnerable, low-income and minority populations, drain important education revenue streams, and tempt underage and problem gamblers. Virginia needs true, sustainable, honest economic investment in our communities, not predatory gaming run by dishonest operators. I encourage you to block attempts to include dangerous “skill” games in the budget and keep harmful neighborhood slot machines OUT of Virginia.
Sincerely,
______
