Mammoth Energy Continues to Seek Payment for Work Performed in Aftermath of Hurricane Maria
Employees from Mammoth Energy Services, Inc. through its subsidiary Cobra Acquisitions LLC (Cobra), mobilized quickly to respond to the humanitarian crisis in Puerto Rico following Hurricane Maria in 2017. With haste, we were able to successfully restore power to the island and faithfully meet the obligations of our contract.
Today, more than three years after the completion of Cobra’s work, Mammoth Energy continues to wait for payment from the Puerto Rico Electric Power Authority (PREPA) for an amount exceeding $375 million – a figure that continues to rise due to accumulating interest.
In its correspondence with Mammoth Energy, the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) has made it clear that the agency will in no way hinder the payment, having reviewed the contracts and determined that they were appropriate in scope and cost. With FEMA prepared to allocate the funds, there is no reason for PREPA’s continued delay.
As we enter a new year, and with interest continuing to escalate, it is in the interest of both PREPA and Mammoth Energy to move forward and conclude this matter.
Your voices have been instrumental in raising the awareness of our representatives in Congress and the members of the independent Federal Oversight and Management Board of Puerto Rico (FOMB).
We once again ask you to take a moment to write to Congress and ask them to help bring this matter to a close once and for all in 2023.
