Lawmakers in Springfield are trying to pass a bill that would result in higher health care costs for patients, working families, small businesses, and unions.
If passed, this bill would add a new $10.49 tax to most prescriptions and take choices away from patients by preventing their employers from providing certain lower-cost pharmacy options, such as home delivery of prescriptions.
That’s not what Illinois voters want. Here is what they do want:
- 83% of Illinois voters say affordable, employer-provided health care and prescription drug coverage is important to them.
- 68% of Illinois voters would rather go to a specific pharmacy for discounted prescription drugs than be able to pick up more expensive medications anywhere. For example, sometimes employers offer prescription drug coverage with a lower copay at certain lower-cost pharmacies, instead of having the same copay at all pharmacies.
We need your help to make sure lawmakers reject this bill that would drive up health care costs, eliminate coverage options and undermine the quality of care for patients. Instead of raising prescription costs for Illinois businesses and hardworking families, lawmakers should address other critical issues facing our state.
