As your constituent, I am writing to urge you to call on the White House to withdraw the proposed Office of Management and Budget (OMB) Uniform Guidance rule. The proposal would create uncertainty for federally funded medical research, making it harder to sustain long-term clinical trials and research that patients and families depend on.

For decades, federally funded medical research has helped deliver breakthrough treatments and cures for diseases affecting millions of Americans. Congress has demonstrated bipartisan support for this work because patients, families, and communities across the country depend on continued scientific progress.

Medical research depends on certainty. Breakthrough discoveries and clinical trials often take years to complete. If researchers and institutions can no longer rely on a stable and predictable research environment, research investment, clinical trials, and scientific talent will increasingly shift to countries actively competing with the United States, including China.

The proposed OMB rule on Uniform Guidance threatens all of this, and that will mean fewer cures and treatments for patients who need them the most.

Please urge the White House to withdraw the proposed OMB Uniform Guidance rule before it takes effect, and please continue to support policies that protect America's leadership in medical research. Patients deserve the certainty that lifesaving research and clinical trials will be there when they need them.
